Voisine de Normandie
Patricia’s mare of a lifetime
Segura retires

Valseuse de Terlong and Voisine de Normandie

There are horses that mark a life, forge a career and leave an indelible mark on the heart of their rider. Voisine de Normandie is one of them.
For Patricia Segura, the decision to retire her precious mare was not an easy one. But it is now an act of love and respect for the mare who has given so much, both on the track and in life.
Voisine de Normandie joined Patricia’s team at the age of 11 and quickly found her place, becoming much more than a competition partner. A product of Notrestar de la Nutria, she has revealed her full potential over the seasons, winning prizes on some of Europe’s finest courses. Together, they have progressed from 2* and 3* Grand Prix to placings in 1.50 m classes, right up to the Spanish Championships.
But beyond the results, it was a human and emotional adventure that was forged. “Voisine would have been the mare of my life, emotionally and in terms of my heart. She taught me so much. She’s also, I think, the best mare I’ve ever had in terms of intrinsic quality, with a character that I didn’t always manage to help in the way I would have liked,” confides Patricia.
The decision to retire her came gradually, as the seasons went by and her feelings grew. “She made me realise that emotionally it was more complicated each time. I did what I had to do for her. So it is with great emotion, but also the conviction of having made the right decision, that Patricia is offering Voisine a peaceful retirement, surrounded by care and attention to the breeding of horses. And why not a foal next year?
